Exploring mirrors as tools of self-reflection, packaged as collectible objects that highlight their playful, sculptural forms.

The Pommes series by Katharina Ruhm features individually crafted mirrors with organic, playful shapes and highly sensitive surfaces. Each mirror is vacuum-sealed to ensure protection during handling and transport. Upon opening, the mirrors’ surfaces subtly change, revealing the patina that develops over time.
The edition explores the charged concept of the mirror as a tool of self-reflection in a century of excessive self-staging, giving the series a thought-provoking conceptual dimension.
The packaging concept draws inspiration from collectible “Hot Toys,” emphasizing preservation and presentation. Like collectors keeping action figures in pristine packaging, the design encourages owners to maintain the mirrors in perfect condition, framing them as desirable, collectible objects. Minimal graphics complement the sculptural forms without distracting from their aesthetic and tactile qualities.
