A design system that highlights each artwork while reinforcing the Kunstverein’s visual identity across media.

The Kunstverein Göttingen is a leading institution in the regional and national contemporary art scene, known for its high-quality exhibitions and collaborations with emerging and established artists. Over several years, the concept and implementation of the visual identity were developed in collaboration with Sascha Bente and Marius Land. The design system maintains strong recognition while providing sufficient space for the artworks to shine as the key visual of each exhibition. Two different typefaces subtly indicate the two exhibition venues: a serif for the Alte Rathaus and a sans-serif for the Künstlerhaus. Despite this differentiation, the overall layout and asset structure remain consistent, ensuring the institution is clearly recognized as the organizer.
We applied the design system across printed materials, social media visuals, and Out-of-Home media. Collaborations with artists such as Monira Al Qadiri and Lena Marie Emrich led to additional materials, including books, exhibition merchandise, and supporting graphics. The visual identity balances clarity and subtlety, allowing the artwork to take center stage while reinforcing the institution’s presence.
