A publication accompanying an exhibition by Tomás Espinosa and Red Comunitaria Trans, shaped by the visual language of protest.

social poetics* documents an exhibition and collaborative project by Tomas Espinosa and Red Comunitaria Trans, curated by Vincent Schier at Kunstverein Göttingen and presented in adapted form at Bogotá’s Kuir-Festival 2021.
The project emerges from long-term collective processes in which Espinosa and the Bogotá-based community of Red Comunitaria Trans developed performances, video works, and sculptures reflecting social and political struggle. social poetics* refers to strategies that activate confrontation, dialogue, and participation in public space while remaining open-ended and disruptive of fixed categories.
These ideas informed the design of the publication. Bold headlines reference protest signage, and freely arranged layouts disrupt rigid grid systems. Removable A2 inner pages can be repurposed as banners for demonstrations or public action, extending the publication beyond documentation into potential use. The A3 format balances readability with physical presence, creating a flexible editorial object aligned with the exhibition’s blend of artistic practice, activism, and collective expression.
